i'm really interested in the idea of global citizenship (as i have alluded to in previous blogs). i am currently reading a book on ikeda's philosophy of peace, which discusses global citizenship at length. last night, i read something that i am still thinking about... maybe you should too....

"if a religion is worthy of the name, and if it is one that can respond to the needs of contemporary times, it should be able to nurture in its followers the spiritual base for becoming good citizens of the world."

what does being a "good citizen" mean? is it essential to be this way, to be "good"?
