0078h

i don't have to work or go to class fridays. i look forward to this day... today i got to sleep an extra 2 hours, which ruled! i went to school to meet with my advisor about switching my program. i was nervous the classes i took this quarter would not count....but... they will! i then went to get injected with the swine flu. my school was giving free immunizations- i had to get one. of course the moment after i received the shot i felt like i was getting sick and would become one of the rare cases of people who died after the shot. i'm not dead though. after all that, i met with a group i am doing a presentation with. it was nice to hang out with them. i am not sure, but i think the guy in my group sort of "came out" to us today... it was a very weird conversation... but i think what i got out of it was that he is moving in with a guy he likes ("like likes") this week... i have a quote that i am living by these days " everyone is gay until proven straight" (this goes for guys and girls)...
later in the day, on my way home, i was sitting in traffic in my room mates car. she was listening to ray lamontagne (incidentally, i'm not a huge fan-at all).tonight, it was the saddest music i had heard (in a while). i actually started crying, really. i had to turn my head and face the window so she wouldn't see. (i didn't feel like explaining the tears) basically, i began thinking of friends. i have been especially sad lately thinking of a friend whom i pretty much lost in the past few months. i can not comprehend how people just lose touch or move on (so to speak)... it just doesn't make sense that someone can be so much a part of your life and then nothing... thinking of her triggered many emotions and thoughts (that i took to levels they should have never gone)... am i the only person that does this kind of stuff... i got home and just laid on my bed in the dark listening to m83 (dead cities, red seas and lost ghosts) trying to make sense of what thoughts were valid and which weren't...

i started some homework... i am so much better than i used to be with time management. thank you korea.

and around here i'm sad swimming and you don't care

this week has been super busy. my friend came into town- between entertaining him, school and work... i'm exhausted!
i'm currently freaking out due to the fact my first quarter of grad school is coming to an end in about 2.5 weeks. i have 2 major papers, 2 projects and a presentation all coming at me. yikes.
on a nicer note, i'm going to see mum next week. i'm stoked.
ps these pics were taken of me at starbucks (don't judge... there are barely any independent coffee shops around here)... as you can see... i really got a lot of work done...

vale oso

tonight i baked a pie and it looks delicious....
tomorrow, my room mate and i will try it. as the pie was baking, i colored my own hair- this is a first. i am becoming so independent- really, i still don't have many friends in this city and my room mate(s) went out tonight...so i was keeping myself entertained.

i can't believe this quarter is almost over... it has gone by so quickly. on that note, i made a decision about my program. i am meeting with an advisor first thing on monday morning to see how my new decision will work out. i'm pretty excited about it. i have been thinking about doing this for a very long time.

"you worry bout the wrong things, the wrong things"

i was on the train heading to work when this dude sits next to me. he is staring, but i ignore. then he looks at the ad in front of us about knee/hip pain and proceeds to me about his friend who played baseball in high school and now has chronic knee pain. i say, "wow, that really sucks."
silence
then he sits closer to me. i can smell his breath at this point and its not good. he starts telling me about how he got shot twice because of a girl. i stop listening after a while, hoping my stop will be soon.
this all goes on before 8:15 am
after work and school, as i was walking home, i see a lady in front of me with a shirt on that says,
"gold (check)
attitude (check)
boobs (check)
booty (check)
diva "
is this seriously how people really think. god help us.

what can i even say...

i really hate these. it literally makes me sick to see people wearing them for fashion and most importantly running.... i mean.... really... are these the new crocs....

im scared about the swine flu.

i started one of my tutoring jobs today. it is a program called america reads. basically, i tutor kids in elementary/middle school who have problems reading. the school i went to this morning was on the south side of chicago-the elementary school had a metal detector (in-sane). i had a really good time. it rules that i make money hanging out with kids!
one of the kids i tutored had a hearing impairment. at first, i had no idea. i thought he was rude and not feel'n it.... then as i was wanted to scream at him his teacher came over to me and told me he couldn't hear me and he reads lips. i was so embarrassed.... but how was i to know. after i realized how i could help him, we had a really good time together. i cant wait to see him next tuesday!
on another note, it is extremely cold here. i do not think i am cut out for this kind of weather. i secretly turned on the heat in my apartment because i couldn't feel my feet.
